When a child needs in-person care, not an online consultation

Online support can help with preparation and routing, but it is not for acute conditions and must not delay medical care.

Materials are educational and do not replace an in-person doctor visit, diagnosis or individual prescriptions.

Acute situations

Seizures, breathing problems, trauma, loss of consciousness, sudden worsening, marked lethargy or dehydration signs require in-person or emergency care.

Planned in-person assessment

Some concerns are not urgent but should be discussed in person: persistent asymmetry, hearing or vision doubts, tone questions or developmental delay over time.

What online can do

Online you can prepare observations and choose the relevant specialist. This is routing support, not a replacement for examination.

Mini summary

  • Acute symptoms require in-person/emergency care.
  • Non-urgent concerns can be prepared for a visit.
  • Online helps with routing, not treatment.
